AAA 26, part one

At the last, meine mann was unable to attend. He has earned the right to manage his own branch, which is scheduled to open on July1, so has many things to accomplish before that date.

Henderson County TN: I was in the fast lane, rolling with the trucks at 80mph when the car started to wobble. I knew immediately what it was. I down shifted with my right, hit the blinker with my left, then put on my emergency flashes, thats when the explosion occured. The backend jumped up, both hands on the wheel guided me to the emergency lane, as little chunks of steel belt flew off like mad ravens down I-40.

I sat on the interstate for two hours because, for the first time in eleven years, AAA let me down. Small matter, I had the company of a TN State Trooper for the last hour, who will receive a thank you note.

Behind my original schedule, two new back tires, none the worse for wear, I am on the road again.

"Before walking forward through all doorways, be duty bound to sharp-sightedly look all around; be duty bound to spy about, looking all around. Because he knows not - but the senses / consciousness does - where an opponent sits upon the benches." (Desmond translation)

Entering the air-conditioned hall I immediately looked about for a familiar face and saw plenty.
First my Brother Jason and the ever smiling and lovely Hillary, then Sam and Cat. Grimsteiner then caught my eye - tall and noble; a hug from any of these good folk would rejuvinate me!

I was just in time for the light evening meal: hot and rich pototoe soup with huge chunks of ham, fresh and cool fruit and a green garden salad. I saw my other Brother, Mitch, who handed me a sports drink, 'to rehydrate', and all my kin and kith sat together.

Allan Tunnage and Will Oliver joined us. The former is a long-time friend who - when he became Thule for his kindred - I sent great amounts of Heathen Law material and references to assist him in this new role. The latter is the man who taught me how to throw the light spear, the asagi; he is also an accomplished shaman, warrior and alround good man.

The Main Hall was arranged so that all in attendance could stand and introduce themselves. For myself, the boon of the Internet is that so many names are familiar without ever having met; equally, a basic idea of an individuals personality can be had - or at least, reputation - prior to meeting them eye-to-eye.

Later Valgard Murray offered me sleeping space in his cabin. Already there was George and Valgard's son and daughter in law, so I was with family. That night we sat outside our cabin drinking mead, catching-up, meeting new folk - like Scot and his lovely daughter - and for myself, enjoying the company of fine and trú folk.

Moot Deliberately!
Yngona
